It hadn’t been there a few minutes previously when I’d gotten us drinks. We were 10 miles from Charleston, SC and the brand new, never-tested engine had been running flawlessly.     Festival Season

    Spring is here and every small town in the area is having their annual spring festival. Do you want crabcakes at the Soft Shell Crab festival, lunch at the Shrimp and Grits festival, or a few hours on the tarmac as the Marine Core Air Base puts on a show? “We’re going to stay right here and watch the air show from our pool,” one of the dads at the marina informs me while trying to fill an inflatable pool with water.     Functional Fitness

    I have a number of friends who are big believers in functional fitness and who generally go to crossfit-style gyms for their training. Which is awesome. I’m all in favor of people being in shape. I think living on the boat, however, provides a different type of functional fitness. Last night, on a whim, I dropped by the local pilates studio to try a barre class.
